• Ann Langley, Past President, Executive Board
[Endowment Committee]
Ann Langley moved her young family to Tracy in 1970 and raised two children in our community. She helped launch the Expressions! art show in 1990 to addresses several community needs. Tracy had no cultural or visual arts facilities at that time and local schools needed a partner to continue arts education because of significant budget cutbacks. Expressions! also funded an annual scholarship for Tracy graduating seniors interested in pursuing higher education opportunities in the arts.

Five years later in 1995, Ann and Cynthia Souza began early planning for what would become the Grand Theatre Center for the Arts. They and the Arts Leadership Alliance approached city council and offered to conduct a research project into building an arts center for the community. Ann was part of the resulting 18 month study which compiled information from the community about their needs, data from existing facilities in other cities and funding possibilities. The results of that study compelled the city to hire a consultant to conduct a formal research project which became the blueprint for city council and the community of Tracy for designing, building and maintaining an arts facility.

Ann helped raise $1.8 million to help buy the Grand Theatre and renovate the building to its former glory, making it the jewel of downtown Tracy. Ann has served on the Grand Foundation Board of Directors since its inception and is proud the community has had such a loud voice in creating a place where the creativity and soul of Tracy is represented every day.

• Mike Souza, Past President, Executive Board
[Endowment Committee]
Michael Souza was raised in Tracy and was taught by his parents to always give back to the community. He has served on the Grand Foundation board for years and was also part of the Arts Leadership Alliance, the organization instrumental in creating the Grand Theatre. As a partner of Souza Realty and Development, Mike feels that it is important to create the kind of community of which he can be proud. As such, he feels the Grand Theatre has provided a unique cultural center that he can point to with pride. Mike is excited to see the impact the Grand Theatre has had on the revitalization efforts in downtown. When asked what his favorite performance at the Grand has been, Mike answered, "I've seen plenty of wonderful performances at the Grand, but my favorite has been anything my kids are in." Mike also serves on the Board of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Tracy and is a long-time Rotarian.

• Michael Langley
[Events/Fundraising Committee, Marketing Committee]
Michael Langley was raised in Tracy at a time when Tracy schools offered arts opportunities to all students. As a journalist, Michael worked in communities across the nation and witnessed just how important public centers, dedicated to the celebration and education of the arts, were in places like Sacramento, Washington, D.C. and Colorado Springs. Michael volunteered in 2006 and 2007 to help to open the Grand Theatre Center for the Arts and carries with him the ideals that are the foundation of its rehabilitation: this is the community's center and the Grand Foundation is the community's voice and advocate. When Michael returned to Tracy in 2013 as the editor of the Tracy Press, he was excited to be able to dedicate himself once again to the Grand Foundation's mission.
