Valerie Umana started with the Grand Foundation in May 2017. Valerie was born and rasied in the Southwest subrubs of Chicago, IL. She attended Eastern Illinoise University and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Speech Communications. After her time at Eastern, Valerie took on a role as the Executive Assistant to the President of a 3rd party medical billing office. She stayed at this company for nearly 9 years moving up into her final position as the Director of Operations. Valerie has led large projects, developed and implemented new technologies and has a tremendous amount of business operations experience. She left the medical billing world to pursue a dream... studying the culinary arts. From 2012 - 2013, Valerie attended Kendall College in Chicago to learn the French Culinary artistry. Valerie came to California with her family in 2014 and immediately got involved in her daughter's school. She became the Discovery Bay Elementary School's Parent Teacher Association (PTA) President and served two full terms in this position. Valerie worked hard to bring Music into the school for the Transitional Kindergarten through 3rd grade classes. She strongly believes that the arts need to be in our schools and available to all of our children. Valerie is a wonderful asset to the Grand Foundation and will continue to take us in a positive direction.
